Perhaps one of the main challenges in battery-powered asset trackers—particularly over long durations, such as months or years—is that of power management. GPS and other means can quickly drain a mobile device’s battery, as the unit is constantly acquiring and reporting its position to a remote center.
Our asset tracker can mitigate its location acquisition and reporting frequency to better preserve power, passively waiting until the package changes its position before reporting again. The frequency of these reports can be determined based on the tracker’s remaining battery level.
In cases where more frequent information is needed, a user can remotely set how often the asset tracker reports its location, perhaps to pay careful attention to expensive cargo or find a late or missing package.
